How to use the Mayo Hegar Needle Holder?
With a forceps, take the thread of the suture that carries the needle.
With the dominant hand, hold the needle holder, insert the ring fingers and thumb into the holes of the instrument and use the index finger as support.
The needle holder can also be held without inserting the fingers into the holes of the needle holder, holding them with the last three fingers of the hand using the index finger as support.
The needle holder should hold the needle by the body and not at the ends.
Take care to avoid crushing or bending the suture material during use of the needle holder.
Use a needle holder that matches the size of the needle.
